I have Windows XP Professional Edition on my computer. When I open Windows, I have a lot of programs that automatically open and run in the back ground. They are represented by icons in the lower right corner by the clock. How do I stop these things from opening up and running ?

look for a program called ccleaner (crap cleaner). It’s free and will allow you to take care of everything that starts up.
Winpatrol is also a free software that allows the same thing. If you are experience, you can find your way in the registry or type msconfig in the Run window from the start menu.

open ‘Run’ in your start menu, type in msconfig then goto the tab that says startup, be careful what you select and uncheck.

dont listen to these others. Go to the registry to stop them from starting. It is not difficult at all. Go to start run and type REGEDIT. Once open, go to HKey_LOCAL_MACHINE and follow this path
…………..software/microsoft/windows/current version/run.
……………. Once you click on run, it will list all the programs that start on boot. You can right-click any program that you want and select delete. All delete does is stop the program from starting on boot. You will know which programs they are by the strange and suspicious names. take care and good hacking.

go to run type there msconfig, and then ok. go to start up, there you just uncheck those programes that you don’t want.
one thing more, go to run, and type in regedit. there go to edit–> find. and type there run, the entries will be displayed. just delete what you don’t want there, but be careful as you can couroupt the regedit and then your computer won’t start, leving the format as the only option.
