How do I delete my Windows XP home edition?

I have XP pro and when I put the disk in it wont install cause it says that my version is newer. But I still want XP pro on my computer. Can anyone help me with this? I’ve been searching through a number of different questions and answers, and trying many things but nothing helped.

Insert the disc, then reboot and enter CMOS setup. Shuffle the boot order to boot up CD first, then go from there with the step-by-step instructions.

You should be able to boot from the CD, from a text based prompt system. Then just let it get to the point where it asked you were you want to install it. Your existing installation should be listed. Delete that partition (all your data will be gone) and then create the partition new and XP Pro will install.

Well you can upgrade from home to Pro with no problems. but you can not downgrade from Pro to home. If you have an upgrade disk you will need to have a disk from a previous version to prove you own a previous licence even if you are trying to do a clean install.
If you having problems upgradeing to pro from home i would suggest visiting Microsoft’s Support page and check out thei knowledge base.

Put the CD on the drive.
Reboot your system.
Press del or button to enter settings.
Use your CD Drivers as primary Drive.
So You will enter Windows’ setup

ok here is what you do… go to microsoft.com support downloads
do a search for msdos 6.2 download the three files no to your computer. read the instructions on how to make boot able floppy disks.
once you have made the boot disk place the fist disk in the floppy drive (make sure your computer is set in the bios to boot from the floppy drive) reboot the puter and it will boot from the floppy disk,
at the dos prompt = A:\ type in format c:\ should look like this
A:\format c:\
press enter key, it will say ALL DATA WILL BE LOST ARE YOU SURE “Y”"NO” press the y key to format the hard drive..
after that is done take out the floppy disk reboot you puter with the windows cd in the drive, and reinstall XP again

boot up from a backup disc at the dos prompt
type format c: fallow the screen delete in all
(all will be gone)then at the dos prompt type setup with your new systems disc installed in the drive make a new backup disc for this system, make sure that it will work with your system anyway you should copy your old file to disc just in case
