HELP! Intermittent Internet connection problem on Server 2003 based network?

Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

This is a tough problem. I’ve got a large network here using Server 2003 as both DNS and DHCP servers. It has been working fine for months. However, as of late we’ve been seeing only some client computer losing connection to the Internet. What’s weird is they still have valid IP’s and they still have connection to the server itself. Also they appear to be resolving DNS when I ping an address (like Yahoo) However, there is just no return traffic. All the packets get lost :( Meanwhile, the server itself never seems to lose Internet. Now, some people may have made changes to the server config awhile back to put in an Internet censor device. However, they took it out and claim they didn’t change anything. Any ideas of where I could start debugging this problem? THanks!

Vista will not connect to Small Business Server 2003 R2?

Sunday, October 4th, 2009

I recently set-up a domain on my Windows Small Business Server 2003 Premium Edition R2 machine. Well my office has both XP Pro systems and systems running Windows Vista Business Edition. The XP systems connected to my server (Domain) with no problem but the Vista Business systems can’t seem to locate it. If I search for the shared files on my server under the run command I am able to locate them but as far as locating the domain no luck. I have received a number of error messages ranging from can’t locate the Small Business Server to some router set-up issues, to can’t locate the users or computers on the server. I am confused because the XP systems connected just fine. The http://servername/connectcomputer does not work for me nor does locating the server through the network set-up. Any suggestions will help.

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

I downloaded Windows Server 2003 evaluation copy from:

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver20…

It mentioned on that web page (click the link above) to burn the ISO image of Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard or Enterprise Edition with SP2 trial software to a blank CD. Using PHP mail() function on Windows Server 2003?

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

I have SMTP and POP3 mail installed on my windows server 2003 OS. I have PHP installed also.

I’m having trouble getting the PHP mail() function to work. The PHP code is fine.

In my php.ini I have:

SMTP = Server01
smtp_port = 25
sendmail_from = info@mydomainname.com

On my router, I have port 25 set up and applied to the server.

Trouble is, the mail function just doesn’t do anything.

Anyone know how to solve this?

Thanks.
