I am re-installing windows xp on my friend’s computer, and he wants to keep his games, programs, etc. installed, is there a proper way to back these up so they can be put right back on the hard drive after the xp re-install.

i have a hard drive that currently has data on it. i’d like to split some of its remaining space into a second partition without having to reformat the entire partition first (don’t feel like backing up 100gb of data).

can i use windows xp to do this or do i need some 3rd party app like partition magic?

So can i take the hard drive out of my older computer that has win 98 on it and instal it as a 2nd hard drive on my comp thats running win xp and completely copy my newer hard drive with win xp onto the that hard drive and make a carbon copy of it and then take it out and reinstall it into my second computer and have two computers running exactly the same?

My computer wont start up at all, i can get to bios, but not much i can do there. I have my xp cd and i want to install it again, when i put the cd in nothing happens. I think it is frozen. It might be a virus is there anything i can do?
