I have an HP Pavilion computer with the windows xp home operating system. When I select shut down or restart from the start menu, the computer seems to be shutting down but after a few minutes it goes to a plain blue screen and never restarts or says that it is safe to turn off the power. What should I do to correct this?
I have tried all the suggestions so far and nothing has solved the problem yet.

I have an issue with something that has taken over my computer (antivirus xp 2008) And I was wondering if I deleted everything off of the hard drive will it stop the thing?

will wiping my hard drive get rid of the antivirus xp 2008?

I have an HP laptop with 100gb of harddrive. I bought a 160gb harddrive for the laptop but do not want to reinstall win xp or the apps software.
